![]() Songs like these dominante the soundtrack as a whole, and carry on the musical traditions of the series in an extremely competent way. From 64 to even the more recent 3D World, it’s what Mario sounds like in the ears of many, and Odyssey isn’t any different. ![]() The series established a very distinct sound around the 3rd game or so, and ever since then, it’s been a staple of the soundtracks to be upbeat, bouncy, and have a certain sort of video game melody focus to them. Mario Odyssey sounds like Mario, in every way. ![]() So let’s dive into the most recent Mario game, and find why good enough isn’t always, well, good enough. ![]() And I feel bad! I do, because I’m about to spend a bunch of time looking at what I think may be the weakest link in this whole game. Every part of this game ended up being so much fun, and yet, here I am, needing to talk about the soundtrack instead. ![]() It’s the only game in the series I put time into fully completing because I just genuinely enjoyed the act of engaging with it every time I’d open it up. Mario Odyssey is a game of joy, playing around, being inventive, having fun in expertly crafted toyboxes. ![]()
